Visiting Dallas

Visiting the South can sometimes be daunting to the rest of the country’s citizens. Most folks envision ranch-style scenery and absolutely nothing to do. But not Dallas!  Dallas is a special place to Vince and I, so naturally there’s plenty to see and do.

During your stay in December, you will experience milder winter temperatures in the 40s and 50s. This will allow you to comfortably enjoy the festivities as well as explore some of our favorite spots around town (mostly eateries!). The best way to get around will be by car, since we all know how big this state is! Luckily, if you happen to stay at the recommended Magnolia Hotel, you will also have convenient access to the DART light rail system.

We obviously love to eat at all the mentioned places and so much more! We also love walking around some of the more unique parts of town such as Deep Ellum and the Fort Worth Stockyards.

You can shop at Northpark Center and bask in the holiday cheer. Watch a limited-release movie at the Angelika or Magnolia Theatre. Check out the Sixth Floor Museum and famous grassy knoll, where X marks JFK’s assassination. Have brunch at the House of Blues. Anything you’re interested in – theaters, shopping, or rodeos – let me know, and I’ll be more than excited to share ideas. We want to do everything we can to make your celebration with us as memorable as possible!

Events of Interest Around Wedding Time

The Holidays are a great time around Dallas, I’ve spent several there myself. For everyone coming from the colder states, December in Dallas feels cool and crisp, and even warm in the afternoon. This makes for perfect sightseeing weather, and perfect running weather as well – I ran the Dallas Marathon, #5 on the list, last year, and Cheryl ran it the year before. Be sure to add one of these events when planning your trip!
